Like Former KY Derby Winner Sea Hero, VA-bred Bodemeister Heading to Turkey

Bodemeister (Empire Maker–Untouched Talent, by Storm Cat), sire of GI Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming from his first crop, is relocating to Turkey, following the same path as Paul Mellon’s Virginia-bred Kentucky Derby winner Sea Hero who died in that same country at the ripe of age of 29 earlier this year. WinStar Farm announced Thursday that pending export requirements, the 10-year-old will take up residence at the Jockey Club of Turkey Stud Farm.

Bodemeister, winner of the 2012 GI Arkansas Derby, was second in both the Kentucky Derby and GI Preakness S. and was named the Virginia Horse of the Year for that year.

From four crops of racing age, Bodemeister is the sire of four graded winners and 12 black-type winners.
