VHBPA, VTA and CLN Hosting Benefit

The Virginia HBPA,START dp-pictures-colonial-downs-reopens-20190809-004 Virginia Thoroughbred Association and Colonial Downs are hosting a golf tournament to benefit Shannon Campbell and the Permanently Disabled Jockeys’ Fund on Friday, August 30, 2019 — the day before the Virginia Derby. The tourney is scheduled for a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

Jockey Shannon Campbell was paralyzed from the waist down in a riding accident at Charles Town. She also rode at Colonial Downs. Shannon is one of more than 50 jockeys in the country who are permanently disabled. All proceeds of this golf tournament are for their living and medical expenses.

The event will be held at  Brickshire Golf  Club  5520 Virginia Park Dr, Providence Forge, VA 23140 and prizes will includeTop three teams, Longest Drive/Putt (Men), Longest Drive/Putt (Women) and Closest to pin (M & W).

vahbpaThat same Friday, CLN will be hosting an overnight stakes race on the card — “The Disabled Jockeys’ Fund Stakes” for fillies and mares, 3 and up, going 5.5 f (turf) with a $30,000 purse.
