(Press Release) There were mixed signals during the month of January in the racing economic indicators. As compared with January 2013, both purses and racing dates increased. However, wagered showed a drop over the previous year.
Wagering in the U.S. was down 0.23% in 2014 as compared with the same month last year.
Purses for January 2014 showed an increase, up 1.35% as compared with 2013.
Even with inclement weather causing havoc along the east coast, racing days for the month were actually up, 4.45% as compared with January 2013.
