PROJECTED 2013 VBF VA BREEDERS AWARDS

Here are the VaHorseracingNews.com projected Virginia Breeders Fund “Breeders Awards” for racing in 2013.  These projections are unofficial and subject to change when calculated by the Virginia Thoroughbred Association. The actual awards will likely be paid some time in first quarter of 2014. Contact the VTA for additional information.

The attached model presumes:

  • All the winners are registered Virginia-breds. While this is likely, without access to the registered Va-bred data base this is impossible to know.
  • All the ineligible winners from foreign countries as well as Canada and Puerto Rico have been removed from the model.
  • The awards are (as they have always been) calculated by the percentage of each horses race winning purse amount in relation to the total amount of win purses won by all Virginia-breds.
  • The percentage is then multiplied by the amount available in the Breeders Awards pool (in this case $350,000) to determine each horse’s share of the total amount available. The percentage are included in the embedded PDF.
  • There is $350,000 available for 2013 Breeders Awards. This could be $325,000 with $25,000 going to Stallion Awards, but if so that only changes the projected awards by a maximum of $62 per win.
  • Sanction NSA race wins in Virginia are eligible. Sanction races in other states may or may not be eligible.
  • The accuracy of records is dependent on the information provided by the Jockey Club and VHN.com’s interpretation of same.

Again, these are unofficial PROJECTIONS provided to give the individual breeder a ball park idea of what their eventual awards may be.
