Screen shot 2013-08-15 at 10.28.20 AMIn spite of some dodgy conclusions and questionable facts included in a recent series about breakdowns, the New York Times (when they put their collective minds and talents to it) can (and should) produce some spectacular journalism.

Such it the case with the multimedia production of THE JOCKEY, a new piece just published about Russell Baze.  Written by Barry Bearak with photography by Chang W. Lee and video pieces edited into the body of the story (which reads like a power point presentation), the piece gives great depth and detail into the life of the most accomplished rider in Northern California.

The “helmet cam” footage from Baze’s rides in two races in particularly well done.
