SWAGGER JACK, EMBARR AND BOLTIN’ OUT ENTERED IN SATURDAY STAKES

Grade 1 stakes winner Swagger Jack faces eight others including top-notch sprinter Jackson Bend in the $100,000 Housebuster Stakes today at Gulfstream Park.  (Hunch bettors take note, champion Housebuster finished his career at stud in the Old Dominion.)

Swagger Jack won the Grade 1 $400,000 Carter Handicap at Aqueduct back in April and then stretched out to a mile finishing seventh in the Met Mile Gr. 1 in May.  Prior to that, the five-year-old demonstrated an affinity for Gulfstream where he was second in the $150,000 Gulfstream Park Sprint Championship Gr.3 after winning two allowance races.

By Smart Strike, out of Lyrical Prayer by the Minstrel, the Edward P. Evans-bred comes into the race off off of a 4 furlong breeze in 46.25 on July 29th and carrying a bankroll of $455,519.

Recently crowned 2012 Co-Champion Virginia-bred Older Mare Embarr faces seven others in today’s   $100,00 De La Rose Stakes on the Whitney undercard.  The race that honors turf queen De La Rose will is for fillies and mares that have not won a graded stakes on the grass and will be contested at a flat mile on the turf.

Embarr, by Royal Academy, out of In too Deep by The Deep (IRE) is owned and trained and was bred by Virginia-based Susan Cooney.  She was most recently fifth off a mild rally in the $200,000 Modesty Handicap Gr.3 at Arlington Park and was fourth prior to that one in the $100,000 Edward P. Evans All Along Gr. 3 at Colonial Downs beaten just 3 ½ lengths.

Embarr enters the race with $237,684 in her career bankroll and is looking to give her connections a signature win.

John Tucker’s Boltin’ Out will try the $60,000 My Frenchman Stakes today at Monmouth Park.  By Outflanker, out of Boltin’ Bride by Runaway Groom, the four-year-old gelding won the three in a row at Colonial Downs.  In June, Boltin’ Out won two allowance races and then topped the restricted $60,000 Punch Line Stakes in July.  He comes into today’s race with five wins from ten starts and earnings of $113,297.

Boltin’ Out is trained by Virginian Stephanie Nixon.
