In yesterday’s seventh race at Saratoga, Virginia-bred Torment was part of the first dead heat of the meet when he and Gamblin Fever hit the finish line together in a $35,000 claiming race.
Heavy favorites Kingsford Drive and Vindication Now separated themselves from the rest of the field early, with Kingsford Drive going on to lead by a length after a half-mile in 49.36 seconds. Torment went by those two at the eighth pole, but was soon challenged to the outside by Gamblin Fever, who looked to have momentum on his side. Torment held tough, however, and the two geldings raced together to the line, crossing the wire simultaneously.
Torment, by Harlan’s Holiday, out of Cottage Flower by Pentelicus, has a 3-3-4 record from 18 starts. He was bred by Audley Farm
The pair was clocked in 1:38.67 for a mile on a “good” inner turf course.
