Hyper, second in his last start in the $300,000 Colonial Turf Cup Gr.2,  moved to the lead with less than a quarter-mile to run and won the $100,000 John’s Call Stakes Wednesday at Saratoga Race Course.

Javier Castellano rode the Chad Brown-trained six-year-old, who ran 1 5/8 miles over a firm turf course in 2:39.60.and finished 1 ¼ lengths in front of Side Road.

Virginia-bred (Audley Farm) Dannhauser was sixth after being reluctant to load and then steadied briefly at the quarter pole.  Star Chanel who was bred by Virginians Sam and Carolyn Rogers finished fifth after a rough start.

Chilean Grade 1 winner Quick Casablanca another two lengths back in third while Harrods Creek, Star Channel, Dannhauser, Royal Bench, Sandyinthesun, Address Unknown and Alburj completed the order of finish.

With the victory, Hyper improves to 9-5-2 in 20 starts, with total earnings of $404,700. The son of Victory Gallop (out of Raw Nerve, by Nureyev) paid $5.40 to win as the 8-5 favorite and earned $60,000 for owners Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey.
