Equibase Chart – Ken and Sarah Ramsey brought all the Kitten’s Joy power they could muster to Virginia Derby weekend, nominating 15 runners to the stakes.  Suprisingly, only one found her way to the winner’s circle and that two-year-old filly is a Virginia-bred not sired by Kitten’s Joy.

The Ramsey’s Thank You Marylou raced close throughout and took command in the stretch to earn a 3 ¾ victory in the $75,000 Tippett Stakes.  By Birdstone, out of Mefifeeque by Menifee, Thank You Marylou was bred by Mr. and Mrs. C.W. McNeely III of Charlotesville.  The stakes win was the chestnut filly’s debut and came with a $43,800 payday.

A $47,000 purchase, Thank You Marylou is named after after 88-year-old philanthropist, socialite and Saratoga icon Marylou Whitney.

In 2005, Dreaming of Anna captured the Tippett Stakes on her way to winning the $1,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.  The Rahy filly would return to New Kent the following year to win the Virginia Oaks.
