Nellie Cashman was worth $41.60, $17.40 and $7.60 for earning her first stakes win.

The dark bay miss had tried stakes company one other time, running a well-beaten 10th in the Blue Mountain in her second career start last November, and improved her resume to read 8-2-3-1, $140,770, with the Virginia Oaks score.llie Bashman moved up to challenge rounding the turn, and the pair proceeded to battle it out in the lane with the eventual winner stopping the clock in 1:52 4/5 for nine furlongs on the good turf.

Praia, the 2-1 favorite, came with a furious rally to nip Three Hearts by a nose on the wire for second. It was another length back to Hedonemewrongsong, while Cat’s Holiday, Tanzspiel, Always Kitten, Really Right and Bella Nicole rounded out the order underite

the line. Blossom’s Trail and Hold Our Destiny were both withdrawn.

Bred in Pennsylvania by Nelson E Clemmens, Nellie Cashman sold for $57,000 as a Keeneland November weanling before RNAing for $70,000 as a Keeneland September yearling. She is out of the multiple stakes-winning Alison’s Winner (Pine Bluff), making her a half-sister to dual stakes-placed Sense of Pride.

Alison’s Winner is herself a daughter of multiple stakes queen Sister Explodent, and this is the same female line as Group 1 victress Fairy Heights..
