PimTotallyTB2012The Maryland Jockey Club will host the second annual Totally Thoroughbred Horse Show on the Pimlico Race Course infield Saturday, July 13. The event is the brainchild of Maryland Jockey Club racing secretary Georganne Hale and Stacie Clark-Rogers, manager of the Adena Springs retirement program.

The show is one of a handful for Thoroughbreds where each horse shows under its Jockey Club name. The traditional show horse typically has his name changed at the whim of its current owner.

The inaugural event, held last July, featured 800 entries and raised $16,500 for the charitable beneficiaries.

Nearly $10,000 in prize money will be paid out during Saturday’s event.

The show is part of the 2013 Thoroughbred Alliance Show Series (TASS) which is comprised of Thoroughbred horse shows in the Mid-Atlantic and a year-end awards banquet at Laurel Park.  Virginia is represented by three Thoroughbred Celebration horse shows held at the Lexington (VA) Horse Center in March, June and October.

For more information or to register your thoroughbred in advance for the show series,  go to go to FACEBOOK and check out Thoroughbred Alliance Show Series.

The show starts at 9:00 a.m. and will run most of the day.  Admission is free.

That said, you could go to the horse show at Pimlico and then make it down to Colonial Downs for the Virginia Derby.  Difficult, but not impossible and much easier if you happen to have a helicopter!
